Since 1905 La Pavoni has been at the forefront of espresso machine design and manufacture.   In 1901 Luigi Bezzera developed and patented the "espresso" process in Milan Italy, the patent was subsequently sold to Desidero Pavoni.

Pavoni made his own improvements to the espresso process, developing an espresso machine that was more practical and reliable for commercial use.   Pavoni patented these improvements and in 1905 he began production of the "Ideale", the first commercially successful espresso cappuccino machine.   The machine was marketed for use in cafes and restaurants around the world.  

La Pavoni gave birth to a new era in coffee and so developed the espresso culture that is ubiquitous throughout the world today.   This cafe culture is reflected strongly in conteperary New Zealand culture, with the words espresso, cafe latte, and cappuccino in everyday use.

In 1961 Pavoni again became a pioneer in the espresso industry, developing one of the first espresso machines for home, the Europiccola.   The Europiccola would go on to become probably the most popular and successful home espresso machines with an estimated 500,000 machines being produced.   Today's Europiccola Professional remains true to the original machine and is still as popular as ever due to its beautiful styling and ability to produce excellent espresso.

Over a hundred years since production of the original espresso machine, the La Pavoni brand remains one of the most prestigious names in coffee.   The La Pavoni Europiccola has a passionate following throughout the world, a testament to the quality and reliability of the product, as well as its stunning good looks.   Visitors to the Museum of Modern Art in New York, will see the Europiccola on display.   La Pavoni commercial machines are desired for their reliability, durability, and most importantly ability to produce amazing coffee.
